As one of the world’s leading general contracting construction companies, PCL Construction is well-versed in the importance of an effective restroom renovation. When PCL Minneapolis relocated to a new office, it turned to a familiar partner for the renovation.
Working alongside plumbers and installers for over 40 years, PCL Minneapolis knew that Sloan commercial restroom products were the right fit to meet the company’s hygiene-friendly interior design and sustainability goals.
“The Sloan products in our new restrooms have made a great impression on our employees,” said Mark Bentfield, Building Systems Manager, PCL Construction Services. “Not only that, but two of our customers recently stopped in and liked the products so much that they also want to install them in their own remodeling efforts.”
A One-Stop-Shop Sink
One of the priorities of PCL’s remodeling effort was to maintain the existing footprint from the previous tenants in order to maximize office space. Thanks to Sloan’s AER-DEC® (AD-83000) integrated sink system, PCL was able to avoid adding individual sinks. With the BASYS® sensor touchless faucet (EFX-200), soap dispenser (ESD-400), and hand dryer all working together in one composite system, PCL was able to keep the restroom space compact and maintain the existing restroom footprint. Cleanliness was also high on PCL’s list of priorities. With the AER-DEC providing all three aspects of the handwashing process within arm’s reach, the facility’s maintenance staff is now able to clean the restroom faster and even more efficiently, while eliminating excess water dripping on the floor and the need for paper towels. The AER-DEC not only keeps the restroom cleaner, but also provides a more hygienic experience for users with a completely touch-free experience utilizing sensor activated faucet, soap dispenser, and hand dryer.
PCL Goes Green
Not only does PCL Construction work on a number of LEED projects for its clients, but also the company itself is committed to sustainability initiatives. In addition to a paper towel-free restroom, PCL specified Sloan low-flow flushometers on its toilets and urinals to promote water conservation at its new facility. PCL paired Sloan G2 8111 1.28 gpf flushometers with ST-2459 wall-hung toilets and G2 8186 0.125 gpf flushometers with SU-1009 urinals to deliver water savings while providing a touch-free experience.
