NOVI, MICH- As part of its 70th anniversary celebrations, BrassCraft Manufacturing Co. announced it will continue to support the plumbing industry by offering scholarships through the BrassCraft® Zell Scholarship Program, named in honor of the company’s founder – Robert M. Zell.
The BrassCraft® Zell Scholarship provides $1,500 scholarships to support the next generation of skilled tradesmen and women. These funds help to offset costs for plumbing apprentices enrolled in accredited four-or-five year training programs. The scholarships are available to apprentices on an annual basis.
“The Bureau of Labor & Statistics projection indicates that employment in the plumbing industry (plumbers, pipefitters, etc.) will grow 21% through 2022 and with about 1/3 of the current workforce aging out, we have a responsibility to help attract talent and this scholarship program will help do that.” Said Rick Mejia, president, BrassCraft Mfg. Co.
“Over the last couple of years we have awarded more than $230,000 in scholarships through our relationships with associations (like the PHCC Educational Foundation, Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC)) and independent trade schools.”, said Jill Shippy, Marketing Communications, BrassCraft Mfg. Co.
“Helping deserving students is something we are very passionate about.” Said Shippy.
Students/apprentices and accredited programs may apply for scholarship funds by submitting an application through the BrassCraft website at www.brasscraft.com/scholarship.
