Noritz Launches NRCR Condensing Tankless Heater, Hot-Water Recirculation with 0.97 UEF Rating, Noritz America, tankless water heaters New from Noritz America, the NRCR Residential Condensing Tankless Water Heater Series uses a fully integrated pump to keep hot water close to even the farthest outlet in the home, minimizing the wait and, therefore, the waste of unused potable water down the drain. The Auto Mode on the new NRCR quickly learns household water usage and automatically triggers recirculation-loop activation in line with that expected usage. The correct water temperature is delivered quickly when and where occupants need it the most.

Available with inputs of 165,000 Btu per hour and 199,900 Btu/h, the new NRCR series delivers a premium solution to meet the growing demand for hot-water recirculation. Both models carry an ultra-high Uniform Energy Factor (UEF) of 0.97, while offering the superior durability of dual, stainless-steel heat exchangers. The corrosion and heat-shock resistance of this high-grade material permits an industry-leading, 15-year warranty.

Other key features include:

  • Whole-home, hot-water service: The 199,900 Btu/h model (NRCR111-DV) meets all the hot-water needs of residences with up to 4.5-bathrooms; the 165,000 Btu/h model (NRCR92-DV) is designed for homes with up to 2.5-bathrooms.
  • Less-expensive and easier-to-install venting involves 2-inch or 3-inch PVC or CPVC pipe, instead of stainless steel: with vent runs up to 65 feet for 2-inch pipe; up to 150 feet for 3-inch. Also available: Common venting of multiple units with no need for a return valve.
  • Wi-Fi capability: Homeowner and contractor can monitor and control the NRCR remotely through a special app with on-off control, setpoint temperature adjustment, error-code checking, energy-consumption tracking, and scale-buildup detection.
  • Improved, low-BTU performance: Special programming allows the NRCR to maintain stable outlet water temperatures at input levels well below the listed burner minimum of 18,000 Btu/h. This unique, energy-saving feature — found in no other tankless water heater currently available — is ideal for recirculation applications, which so often involve warm water returning to the water heater for reheating. A special control mode directs the unit to bring that warm water back to the setpoint with minimal energy consumption.
  • Separate digital display enables easier monitoring of water heater operations by the homeowner, as well as easier troubleshooting for service tech personnel.
  • cCS-V Crossover Valve Kit: This simple-to-install component effectively provides hot water recirculation without the need for a conventional, dedicated return line from the farthest fixture to the water heater.

Specifications: The NRCR92-DV has a capacity range of 0.5 to 9.2 gallons per minute (gpm) and a maximum flow rate of 9.2 gpm at a 35°F rise; the larger NRCR111-DV has a range of 0.5 to 11.1 gpm with a maximum flow rate of 11.1 gpm at a 35°F rise. Both models are Energy Star-listed, with certifications from CSA, UPC, NSF, and AHRI.

Constructed of hot-dipped, zinc-aluminum-magnesium-alloy-coated steel with a polyester coating, both NRCR models weigh only 73 pounds. Unit dimensions are: 27 inches H x 18.5 inches W x 14.1 inches D for both.

Also available: The Noritz Quick Connect option enables plumbing installers to combine two units in a single residential application, with no buffer tank required.

Marley Engineered Products, a leader in high-performance, reliable heating and ventilation equipment, introduces the out-of-sight, out-of-mind UL listed In-Floor Perimeter Convector – THX Series heater, which delivers comfort, aesthetics and safety for the ultimate supplemental heat system for both new and existing buildings.

Offered by QMark and Berko brands, the THX Series directly addresses the building’s need for supplemental heat against the curtain walls and glazing, while fully integrating with the architects’ designed interior spaces. The unit drops directly into the floor, leaving only the grille visible, for unobstructed sightlines and more design space with which to work.

While THX can be installed in a small area for minimal disruption, it also features the highest output/cu.ft. of any pure convection, in-floor electric heater on the market today(1). With a comparable range of outputs as Marley’s above-ground convectors, THX comes with the added benefits of being virtually hidden.

“The Marley THX Series provides supplemental heat that’s out-of-sight and out-of-mind due to its zero vertical profile,” said Andrew Martin, Product Manager for Marley Engineered Products. “In-ground heating takes up less space, and THX units are the most compact in-ground comfort solution in their class(2), while still providing maximum heating performance.”

Keeping interior aesthetics intact, THX also helps open rooms up to natural light and outdoor scenery as it keeps windowed surfaces free from fog and moisture. The units ward off condensation by warming the interior side of curtain walls and floor-to-ceiling glazing.

The benefits of the THX Series go beyond clarity. THX units create an effective draft barrier that protects a building’s curtain walls, preventing the primary HVAC system from becoming overtaxed, and avoiding inefficiency and higher utility costs. The convection draft barrier improves overall HVAC performance with no fumes or exhaust for an environmentally-friendly heat solution.

THX units have been designed with durability in mind and include features focused on water and debris management – UL approved, sealed junction boxes and debris catch screens to name a few. “These product innovations, and more, are incorporated for THX to withstand busy foot traffic, cleaning, water and debris,” says Martin. “Whether units are installed in the floor, on the wall or on the ceiling, there should be an inherent piece of mind knowing you have chosen a quality, durable product, and the THX is no different.”

THX saves time, effort and money with modularized units that can be configured by one service professional for easy field connection, control and installation. Additionally, each and every unit is factory wired and preassembled for out-of-the-box readiness, drop-in installation, and easy access for cleaning and maintenance.

The frame, leveling legs and grille options are standard for all THX units, allowing for the choice of mount that best fits the install site. Options include flush or surface grilles, and three UL listed mounting styles, making it a highly versatile installation.

“The Marley THX Series is the ultimate in-floor convector for nearly any space where maximum comfort and aesthetic appeal is desired,” added Martin. “THX provides safe and comfortable heat to occupants, and is efficient and economical for building professionals and owners.”

The Marley In-Floor Convector – THX Series is available in multiple volt, wattage, and control configurations, with modular lengths beginning at 2ft.

Combining superior performance and reliability, new Ultima Diaphragm Flush Valves from American Standard are built to reduce maintenance and save water in commercial applications. The flush valves, available for commercial urinals and toilets, feature exclusive and proprietary DynaClean Technology, engineered to stop valve run-on.

Those who have stepped foot in a public restroom with a toilet continuously running have experienced the most prevalent problem with diaphragm flush valves. A clogged refill orifice causes the valve to continuously run and not shut off, which can potentially waste one to two gallons of water per minute. To prevent valve run-on, each Ultima Diaphragm Flush Valve has a DynaClean Wiper Spring, American Standard’s exclusive self-cleaning technology, which cleans the refill orifice with every flush. The wiper spring keeps the orifice clear of debris and mineral build-up, helping to deliver maximum performance with every flush while saving on water usage and maintenance costs.

With toughness and reliability in mind, the Ultima Diaphragm Flush Valve is equipped with a proprietary EvoLast Diaphragm, designed to outperform and outlast diaphragm flush valves from industry competitors. The EvoLast Diaphragm is made of a premium chlorine-resistant material that delivers consistent performance and resists premature deterioration and failure from water treatment chemicals.

Ultima Diaphragm Flush Valves are fitted for the following American Standard commercial products:

Urinals

  • Washbrook urinal
  • 6145 Series Manual Urinal Flush Valves (0.125, 0.5 and 1.0 gpf)
  • 6145SM Series Sensor-Operated Urinal Flush Valves (0.125, 0.5 and 1.0 gpf)

Toilets

  • Madera toilet
  • 6147 Series Manual Toilet Flush Valves (1.1, 1.28 and 1.6 gpf)
  • 6147SM Series Sensor-Operated Toilet Flush Valves (1.1, 1.28 and 1.6 gpf)

Two easy retrofit options offer facility operation and maintenance professionals flexibility and a streamlined approach to improve performance. Most piston and diaphragm flush valves can be replaced with the Ultima Diaphragm Valve thanks to industry standard rough-in dimensions, or Ultima Diaphragm Assemblies can be installed in flush valves from other major manufacturers to help ensure reliability in existing applications. Both installation options deliver the added benefits of DynaClean and EvoLast.

The Ultima Diaphragm Flush Valve is available through top distributors and at plumbing supply houses nationwide. To learn more, visit americanstandard.com or call (800) 442-1902.
