For the second consecutive year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recognized American Standard, part of LIXIL Americas, with a 2019 WaterSense Sustained Excellence Award for its heroic efforts to defeat water waste and promote WaterSense in 2019. American Standard brand received one of 25 WaterSense awards today at the WaterSmart Innovations Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada.

American Standard was honored as a 2019 WaterSense Sustained Excellence Award winner for its Beauty in Motion Tour, a “showroom on wheels.” The tour displayed several of the company’s innovative WaterSense labeled products. Comprised of 101 stops, the tour offered visitors water efficient alternatives for their home. Additionally, American Standard added several new WaterSense labeled toilets and faucets to its line of labeled products that are sold in 11,000 stores across the U.S., making impactful water savings accessible to consumers.

“At LIXIL, it is our priority to create a positive impact in the communities where we live and work. Producing water efficient products and supporting WaterSense is an important part of this contribution,” said Troy Benavidez, Vice President, Public Affairs, American Standard, part of LIXIL. “I’m proud to be part of a company that cares deeply about the social and environmental impact we have on the health and well-being of the world.”

Since 2006, American Standard and more than 2,000 other WaterSense partners have helped consumers save more than 3.4 trillion gallons of water. That’s enough water to supply all American households for four months. In addition to water savings, WaterSense labeled products in homes have helped reduce the amount of energy needed to heat, pump and treat water by 462.5 billion kilowatt hours—which is enough to power more than 44.4 million homes for a year, equating to a savings to $84.2 billion in water and energy bills.

“Our partners have made water-saving products, homes and programs accessible across the nation and have educated millions on the importance of water conservation,” said Veronica Blette, Chief, WaterSense Branch. “These WaterSense award winners are leading the fight against water waste to save our most precious resource.”

Industry leaders combine cutting edge technology, three decades of experience to better serve more than 30,000 technicians in residential HVAC, plumbing, electric, pool and spa industries

Today the industry leaders in residential flat rate pricing, Profit Rhino and Callahan Roach, announced that they have begun operating both companies under the Profit Rhino brand. The combined businesses, now known as Profit Rhino powered by Callahan Roach, will offer best-in-class mobile sales technology, industry research, education and the industry’s top price book content to create the most powerful flat rate platform and selling tools in the industry. Combined, Profit Rhino and Callahan Roach will jointly serve over 30,000 field technicians in the residential industries across the U.S. and Canada.

The combining of Profit Rhino and Callahan Roach comes at a pivotal point in the field services industry, when contractors are increasingly adopting new technology to drive operational efficiency and profitability while improving the customer experience. Contractors will benefit from Profit Rhino’s mobile sales tool, flat rate platform and industry best practices, along with content supported by 30 years of experience and empirical data from Callahan Roach.

Profit Rhino powered by Callahan Roach will continue to be part of the EverCommerce portfolio of companies. Profit Rhino founder and president Jose Moreira has been named president of the combined companies and will work alongside the Callahan Roach team to bring the two companies together, operating under one brand.

“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome the entire Callahan Roach team into the Rhino family,” said Moreira. “There’s so much opportunity to leverage the amazing content and industry knowledge Callahan Roach has curated over the last 30 years and build on our combined products and services. We will offer customers — current and future — the best technology, content and training to help them grow and succeed.”

Founded in 1989, Callahan Roach, was the first company to introduce the concept of flat rate pricing to contractors in the HVAC industry. They have since expanded into plumbing, electrical, pool, spa, and propane and fuel oil service industries and are known for publishing the most extensive and up-to-date flat rate guides in the industry.

“We’re extremely proud of how far we’ve come over the last 30 years and how we’ve been able to contribute to the growth and success of our customers, partners, service techs, manufacturers and distributors who continue to trust us with their businesses,” said Jeremy Lowe, CTO of Callahan Roach. “We’re also excited about what the future holds, in addition to joining Jose and the Profit Rhino team as we continue providing the industry with the most up-to-date parts pricing and accurate labor times for many years to come.”

Current customers of both Profit Rhino and Callahan Roach will experience no disruption to their current offerings and services and should expect to see new product features and enhancements coming from the newly formed team this fall.

The new branding and combined operations are set to be completed by Oct. 1. For more information about Profit Rhino powered by Callahan Roach, visit profitrhino.com.

This past weekend, AB&I Foundry teamed up with Argent Materials and Alameda County Supervisor to Nate Miley to take on the challenge for “Battle for the Bay” cleanup day. Oakland’s AB&I Foundry and Argent Materials joined the effort with dozens of team members pitching in to help. Volunteers from The Beautification Council, Cypress Mandela Training Center and Men of Valor provided additional on-the-ground-support. These passionate volunteers showed up to cleanup in their East Oakland neighborhoods.

Battle for the Bay volunteers prepare to cleanup in their East Oakland neighborhoods.

“This illegal dumping remediation is paramount to the local community. By working as a team with local businesses, residents, and community leadership, we are collectively finding ways to combat the disheartening behavior of illegal dumping while improving the community where people both live and work”, said Michael Lowe, the General Manager of AB&I Foundry.

Both AB&I and Argent will support projects planned that include trash removal in the cities and on beaches, tree planting, and habitat restoration. This cleanup effort is part of the largest volunteer day in California and the world. On September 21, thousands of volunteers in the Bay Area and beyond removed litter from waterways and shorelines, as well as upstream areas across California, the nation, and in about 100 participating countries.

“This is part of our commitment to Oakland. We clean over 2 miles of streets around our business every day alongside industry partners like AB&I Foundry. We’re glad the mayors are working together to address the challenge of dumping along our shorelines and throughout our communities, and we’re proud to partner with Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley to support the Battle for the Bay.” said Bill Crotinger, President of Argent Materials

Michael Lowe, General Manager of AB&I Foundry, Mayor Schaaf, and Bill Crotinger, President of Argent Materials at Battle for the Bay.

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf expressed appreciation: “One of the many things I love about Oakland are companies like AB&I and Argent Materials that really step up for our community. With their help, I hope Oakland can win this Battle for the Bay cleanup competition, and more importantly, make progress in the daily battle against litter and illegal dumping in our communities.”

Oakland says it has at least 100 illegal dumping hot spots. This is a plague to our community that needs to be addressed with rigorous enforcement for violators.

Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley added: “Illegal dumping knows no boundaries, which is why I’m glad the mayors are addressing it as a regional issue. I look forward to working with Argent Materials big East Oakland cleanup on September 21, because cleaning up our streets and waterways is a major priority!”

Reno, Nev. —The International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation (IWSH) today honored two of its most exceptional and valued supporters with a special IWSH Award at IAPMO’s 90th annual Education and Business Conference and 2019 ASSE International Annual Meeting.

Courtenay Eichhorst, Business Manager at UA Local Union No. 412 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was recognized for his dedicated support toward the development of the first U.S. Community Plumbing Challenge (CPC) program, a collaboration with the DigDeep Navajo Water Project at various sites across the Navajo Nation, since October 2018. Eichhorst has organized and facilitated the participation of more than 10 volunteers from UA Local 412 in the Navajo Nation program so far, and is committed to continuing this partnership for future CPC projects.

“The whole IWSH program is phenomenal,” Eichhorst said. “When you’re out there helping these folks it’s helping your grandma. I mean, it’s helping your mom; it’s not a big deal. So thank you so much for all that you’ve done; I’m glad I was there to help.”

Plumbers & Steamfitters UA Local 400, a local union consisting of about 2,000 members serving 18 counties in Northeast Wisconsin, also received an IWSH Award. UA 400 has been a consistent CPC supporter and sponsor since the inception of the program in 2015 and has been represented in all international projects over the past five years, including events in India, South Africa, Indonesia, and the United States.

Accepting the award on behalf of UA 400, retiring Business Manager Jeff Knaus said: “Thank you everyone who volunteers your efforts throughout the world. I’m a huge proponent of this organization and what you’re trying to do to change lives, and that’s the way I promote it to our membership. We are all in on this. I didn’t win this; obviously it’s given to Local 400 and their membership for their support.”

Speaking after the two presentations, IWSH Chair Dan Daniels reiterated, “The IWSH Foundation would not be here, and could not continue to do the work it does, without the generous donations and contributions from our supporters across the international WASH sector. Today, we wanted to take a moment to highlight two exemplars, who we feel have gone above and beyond the call of duty in terms of helping IWSH progress toward our goals over the past 12 months. We are delighted to honor Mr. Courtenay Eichhorst – and all of the volunteers who have connected with our projects from UA Local 412, in Albuquerque – plus, Mr. Jeff Knaus, on behalf of UA Local 400, from Wisconsin; a partner organization that has stood proudly with us from the very beginning of this mission.”

“We wanted to take this opportunity to say a special thank-you to both representatives, while we are assembled here together with our friends and colleagues from the across IAPMO membership,” Daniels added. “We hope that by continuing to build and expand our relationships with all parties into the future, will continue to set benchmarks that can inspire other supporters and partners to join the IWSH cause. Finally, we intend to make presentation of these IWSH Awards an annual feature, that will recognize other exceptional individuals and organizations in the years ahead.”
