ELEGANT INTERIOR DESIGNS NAMED 2014 REGIONAL CONTRACTOR OF THE YEAR
Firm Wins for Residential Bathroom, $30,000-$60,000 Category Ambler, PA (February 25, 2014) – The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) named Elegant Interior Designs in Ambler, PA the 2014 Northeast Regional Contractor of the Year (CotY) in the Residential Bathroom, $30,000-$60,000 category in its annual awards competition. The awards showcase members who have demonstrated outstanding work through their remodeling projects. Elegant Interior Designs (http://elegantinteriordesigns.com) specializes in commercial and residential design, including kitchen and bath design, color consultation, space planning, window treatment design and home staging. The firm was founded by principal designer Pamela Kofsky in 2003 to provide clients with a completed dream inspired design that fits their personal taste and lifestyle. Kofsky partnered with Tom Hawks, contractor, of Total Home Solution on the award-winning project. Elegant Interiors Designs’ winning entry in collaboration with Total Home Solution involved incorporating a very tiny, outdated bathroom into a larger, more luxurious one. The new bathroom checklist included: double sinks, a vanity tower, sitting area for hairstyling and make-up application, pocket shelves, toiletry shelf, a larger shower with multiple shower heads, a soaking tub, and a separate room for the commode. The design details were evident throughout the bathroom from the artwork to the shades and even in the accent items in the pocket shelves. The Contractor of the Year (CotY) award is widely considered to be the premier competition of its kind throughout the remodeling industry. Contractors from around the country vie for the CotY Awards on an annual basis. The entries for this year’s competition totaled more than $72 million worth of remodeling projects. Awards will be presented on Friday, March 28, 2014 in New Orleans, LA. “I am so thrilled to be recognized by such an elite organization,” said Kofsky. “The prestigious Contractor of the Year (CotY) award is an honor to win as the interior designer for a bathroom renovation. It is an excellent way to share with clients the impact an interior designer can have on any space in your home.” For the design story behind the 2014 COTY Award, visit http://elegantinteriordesigns.com/the-design-story-behind-the-2014-coty-award/

Kohler Expands Awaken Collection and Unveils New Showering Technology
The Awaken collection grows to include a single-function showerhead, additional coordinating design components and a handshower with a spray-intensifying boost button
Popular with the trade for its quality and affordability and a huge hit with the consumers for its sleek design and premium performance, the KOHLER Awaken collection expands its offering with water-conserving single-function showerheads and a handshower complete with Eco-Assist technology, which provides an intensified spray.
“Water is a precious resource—the new Awaken handshower makes it even easier for homeowners to conserve while offering the convenience of a richer spray for tasks like hair rinsing,” says Kohler performance showering product manager Leslie Bronson. Pressing and holding a button to activate the Eco-Assist technology increases water flow from 1.5 gallons per minute to 2.0 gallons per minute. The new single-function Awaken showerhead touts a spray engine engineered for maximum performance at a water-conserving 1.5 and 1.75 gallons per minute, still delivering full, rich rinsing coverage, and, like the handshower, features an easy-to-clean sprayface.
The Awaken collection is offered in two series to complement transitional and contemporary aesthetics, and comes in two finishes: Polished Chrome and Vibrant Brushed Nickel. Series B is organic in design, taking inspiration from forms found in nature, while Series G takes design cues from classic modern design with simple, architectural form.
“We’re absolutely thrilled the Eco-Assist technology is making its debut in the Awaken collection,” Bronson says. “We’re offering the very latest in water-saving technology at an affordable price.” That’s appealing to plumbers, who can carry stock and offer a quick up-sell, as well as the budget-conscious homeowner who pays close attention to how and where home improvement dollars are spent.
To complete the sleek look of the Awaken collection coordinating design components are available: slide bars, mounting brackets, wall supplies and smooth handshower hoses. A novelty for Kohler is the 36-inch slide bar with integrated water supply. This innovative combination of products eliminates the need for a separate wall supply since the water connection is at the base of the slide bar. All the components are metal construction, providing solid durability at a great price.

Kohler Whitehaven Kitchen Sink Now Offers New Decorative Design
New look adds versatility to classic farmhouse style and functionality
Based on the popularity of the Whitehaven apron-front kitchen sink, Kohler has expanded the line to offer a new decorative design option. The new Whitehaven Hayridge kitchen sink features a textured design on the apron. Farmhouse-style sinks like the Kohler Whitehaven have long been recognized for their durability, practicality, and signature appearance.
Inspired by nature, the textured horizontal lines on the nine-inch apron mimic the patterns of agricultural landscapes and desert dunes. This clean, distinct detail also speaks to the simplicity of the sink’s overall design. “We wanted to capture the inherent beauty and craftsmanship of the enameled cast iron,” says Mike Marbach, marketing manager of Kohler kitchen products. “This design showcases the material and process, and it creates a great focal point in the kitchen.”
The Whitehaven Hayridge 36-inch kitchen sink with tall apron is available with either a single basin or a double basin with Kohler Smart Divide saddle.
The self-trimming apron feature on all Kohler Whitehaven sinks requires only a rough cut to the cabinet for installation. And because it is made from cast iron, the installer can be assured that the dimensions are perfect every time and that it will install with a predictable fit and finish. No additional trim or caulking is necessary to fill cut lines.

Kohler Introduces New Bellwether Cast Iron Shower Receptor
KOHLER, Wis. – Feb. 4, 2014 – In response to the market’s move away from bathtubs and toward showers in new and remodel bathrooms, Kohler introduces the new Bellwether shower receptor. Made from the premier material on the market, durable, long-lasting Kohler Cast Iron, these receptors were designed to weather many years of use and cleaning.
“Across the board we see a growing trend for showers instead of bathtubs in both hospitality and residential bathrooms,” says Jennifer Rindt, Kohler Co. showering product manager. “The Bellwether shower base offers the right size options for remodels as well as new builds, with the added benefit of the durability and luxury aesthetic of cast iron.”
The solid, clean-lined enameled cast iron base offers unmatched durability and will not crack, chip, flex or burn. The one-piece base allows for easier cleaning and maintenance than a tiled base and eliminates the risk of cracking and potential leakage that comes with tile. The ease of installation and maintenance keeps overall costs down, and the receptors are guaranteed with Kohler’s limited lifetime warranty.
The Bellwether receptors are available in six colors: White, Biscuit, Almond, Dune, Sandbar, and Ice Grey, and two sizes: 60 x 32 inches and 60 x 34 inches. They also come with either centered or offset drains. The centered drain is ideal for new construction, and the offset drain eases installation for replacement projects and slab construction applications. The drain covers are easily removed for cleaning and conceal drains help to keep the shower looking pristine. The covers come in either color-matched plastic to create a subtle, integrated look, or aluminum, to give the base an overall look of luxury and refinement.
The Bellwether receptor and drain cover were thoughtfully designed for speedy water drainage, and a four-inch stepover threshold allows for safe and easy entry and exit from the shower as well as offering optimal water containment.

When it comes to color, Kohler Co. and Benjamin Moore know the impact it can have on enhancing a space—as well as the process homeowners undergo to pick the perfect palette. To aid homeowners and members of the trade through the selection process, designers from both companies collaborated to create Collaboration in Full Color, an array of inspiring tools and content that help customers visualize and choose their styles, and then empower them to create it by providing a list of materials to transform that vision into reality.
These are the first three of a future series of creative environments, each including a kitchen and a bathroom, launched in this collaboration between Kohler Co. and Benjamin Moore:
Southern Charm
Inspired by the rich and distinctive architecture of historic southern town, this elegant design palette pulls together soft pinks, saturated blues, cloudy grays and shining details for a look that’s worthy of any home.
Eastern Mist
Inspired by the swirling blend of misty colors that blur the lines of sea and sky on the eastern seaboard, this palette features the beautiful, pale shades of green and blue. Light woods and earthy tones add to the fresh and tranquil spirit of this palette.
Northern Roots
Even the well-worn, wind-beaten farmhouse has a uniquely wondrous beauty to it. Years of weathering reveal the varying hues of grays and taupes that inspired this palette of deep and complex neutrals, creating a beautifully mature feel.
For the two industry pioneers with a combined 216-year history in cultivating color, this collaboration is a natural fit. “Color isn’t only a part of our history, it’s a part of our heritage dating back to 1927 when we were the very first to apply color to plumbing products,” says Tristan Butterfield, Kohler’s creative director. “Bold design with color happens a number of ways in the home—some bright and vibrant, others subtle and calming. Teaming up with fellow color leader Benjamin Moore will help us deliver livable color solutions to homeowners in innovative ways.”
Benjamin Moore’s creative director Ellen O’Neill concurs: “Collaboration in Full Color will produce the kinds of inspiring, yet easy-to-use tools and color palettes that designers and consumers have come to expect from Benjamin Moore and Kohler.”
The content and tools created through this collaboration are available now online as well as in Kohler showrooms and select Benjamin Moore retailers across North America. Additionally, the color collaboration will be rolled out at trade shows, in-market events, and as featured content across several social media channels.
