Watts today unveiled a press connection option for select water pressure reducing valves (WPRVs), as well as hydronic and mixing valves. Valves with the press option can be used for in new construction, as well as in renovation projects as an alternative to a sweat/solder joint.
Press technology provides a way to join copper tubing to brass and bronze valves more efficiently than with soldering. This approach offers both time and labor savings over soldering.
Press connections also allow installers create a watertight seal that is strong, consistent, and reliable and avoid soldering issues such as fire, smoke, and the need for fire watches.

Energy-efficient, reliable, space-saving unit features leading-edge condensing technology for residential applications
Burr Ridge, Ill. – (September 26, 2016) – Weil-McLain® introduces the new AquaBalance™ combination boiler, featuring leading-edge hydronic technology for smaller space residential applications. The state-of-the-art unit combines the warmth of high-efficiency space heating and the convenience of on-demand domestic hot water in a reliable, space-saving, easy-to-install package.
With a capacity of 155,000 BTUH input, the AquaBalance combi-boiler produces a constant supply of hot water with up to four gallons per minute (GPM) at 70 degrees F. temperature rise.
Featuring 94.4% AFUE energy efficiency, and the industry’s latest stainless steel, titanium-infused heat exchanger technology, the AquaBalance is ENERGY STAR®-rated to deliver maximum operational cost savings to homeowners and provide qualification for local utility rebates, if available.
The unit is ideal for retrofits or new construction in single-family homes, apartments or condominiums.
“The AquaBalance has a wide range of advanced features to deliver energy efficient, worry-free space heat and domestic hot water in a sleek, compact design that’s small enough to fit in a closet,” said Mike Boyd, product manager with Weil-McLain. “The unit’s high-efficiency condensing technology has the power to supply hydronic heat for up to a 2,500 square-foot home and enough hot water to run two showers and a dishwasher simultaneously.”

Collection of Products Provides Clean, Instant Heating
Berko®, a leading choice among contractors for heating and ventilation systems, offers a collection of five new electric infrared heaters that optimize infrared radiation for a faster, more energy-efficient heating solution.
These radiant infrared heaters were developed for light-commercial, light-industrial and residential units in need of localized, zonal heating, and are designed to fit a wide variety of applications, including:
- Small areas: porches, patios, garages, decks and work areas
- Model: QHRA11 (1500W, 120V)
- Mid-sized areas: restaurants, hotels and reception areas
- Model: QHRA66 (2000W, 240V)
- Large areas: car washes, loading docks, bus stops, and more
- Models: QV4440DTG, QVRC442056, QVR4440DWG
Short wave infrared heating works by heating objects, not the air around the heater. Infrared heaters optimize this short wave infrared energy through parabolic reflector technology, allowing for more than 60 percent of heat to be solely generated by the reflector, while the heating element only provides 40 percent – meaning high-performance heating that is matched by energy efficiency. Berko continues to build on this technology through the use of special symmetrical reflectors that optimize infrared performance.
“The high prices of propane per pound in the U.S., coupled with our exclusive reflector technology, provide a substantial cost difference for the end user,” said Dennis Krob, product manager for Marley Engineered Products. “In fact, replacing a propane infrared heater with a comparable electric infrared heater is both cheaper in installation and allows for cost savings of nearly $20 dollars per week.”
Other features of the radiant infrared heaters include:
• Instant effect – no warm-up required
• Uniform, localized, zonal heating – only where it is needed
• Versatile direction– even coverage across people and objects
• Clean heat – no combustion or odors
• Windproof – radiant heat doesn’t heat air, so heating temperature is unaffected by wind
• Dustproof – no air effect means no dust is stirred up
• IPX5-rated and weather-resistant for all outdoor locations
• 6 foot power cord with in-line on/off switch
“With this new line of heaters, we offer the ease of installation that contractors prefer and the dependability that their customers require,” said Krob. “The cost-saving benefits and technological advancements these heaters provide make a huge impact – no matter the application.”

General’s Speedrooter XL® Blends Long Distance Clog-Busting Power With Easy Drum Changes
Now with easily interchangeable drums, the Speedrooter XL® from General Pipe Cleaners clears tough clogs in 3” to 10” lines – up to 200 feet.
The rugged, easy-to-maneuver Speedrooter XL sports a powerful 3/4 hp motor and 100 foot capacity drums for Flexicore® cable.
Change drums to add cable lengths or swap cable sizes with ease. Just loosen three knobs and remove the drum. Switch between 3/4” or 5/8” cables in the large drum design – General’s see through inner cage lets you quickly gauge how much cable remains – or substitute the small drum with 100 feet of 1/2” cable for smaller lines.
Variable speed cable feed offers raw driving and pulling power for long, tough jobs – feeding and retrieving 3/4”, 5/8”, and 1/2” cables. To adjust 3/4” or 5/8” cables, simply turn a knob on top of the feed – no screwdriver required!
One person can easily load Speedrooter XL onto a truck. The machine’s frame slides smoothly from the loading wheel to the handle to stair climbers and finally to the wheels. The adjustable height, swept back handle also provides maximum maneuvering leverage. And the durable design features a braced frame at key stress points, front and rear drum supports for longer bearing wear, and Flexicore® cable.
Flexicore® cable offers superior kink resistance and unequalled strength with the right amount of flexibility. It’s so tough that it carries a one year warranty against breakage.
