ELKHART BRASS PRESENTS THE FIREFIGHTER THROWDOWN
With health, nutrition and fitness integral parts of firefighter’s everyday lives, Elkhart Brass, a global leader in innovative firefighting and fire protection equipment, has partnered with nationally recognized organizations to present the Firefighter Throwdown©, a firefighter exclusive athletic competition, to support firefighter’s commitment to healthy living and saving lives.
“Elkhart Brass is not only passionate about its products and their performance, but also about the firefighters who use them,” said Eric Combs, Elkhart Brass marketing director. “We want to support firefighters with their personal health and performance endeavors by giving them a platform to showcase their skills and fitness levels in addition to sharing their inspirational stories and successes with others.”
Operated by the experts of Crossfit SoCal, the Firefighter Throwdown will be held at the Firehouse World Tradeshow in San Diego, February 19th & 20th. The event allows fit, enthusiastic and competitive firefighters the opportunity to compete on a national level in the Sport of Fitness.
The Firefighter Throwdown competition was developed by fitness expert and program director, David Bowman. A devoted firefighter, athlete and nurturer of young professional talent, Bowman not only teaches, but competes as well. Six Time Grand National Champion of the Firefighter Combat Challenge and Top 3 in the World Over 40 category for the Crossfit Open, Bowman selected four diverse workouts of the day (WODs) designed to exhibit true endurance, stamina and overall fitness.
Partners of the event include Cygnus Media (Firehouse Magazine), Reebok, Progenex, Rogue Fitness, Crossfit SoCal , South Coast Fire (Pierce), Starkist and MCM Communications.
An invitational event, only 100 athletes will be chosen to compete in this firefighter exclusive event. For more information about the event, or to sign up for the challenge, athletes must fill out the online qualifier form by November 30, 2013 at www.firefighterthrowdownUSA.com.
