Ontario, Calif. — The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO®) and Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI) have teamed up to offer an online presentation of the popular “PMI Codes & Standards” primer that has since 1999 only been available previously in a “live” format.
The new online course is presented in an audio/slide format, narrated by PMI Technical Director Len Swatkowski and accessed via the IAPMO Learn Website (www.iapmolearn.org). The course is going through final documentation and will be available for registration on Sept. 21.
“In today’s business climate, knowledge of national and international standards and standards‐making bodies —and how they interrelate — is critical for management, technical and sales personnel,” said PMI executive director Barbara C. Higgens. “Part of our mission is to make this information available to our industry as conveniently and affordably as possible.”
This IAPMO/PMI educational venture is part of a broad‐based collaborative effort initiated in 2011 with a Memorandum of Understanding to explore mutually beneficial educational programs and other services.
The “PMI Codes & Standards” course has a runtime of about three hours, but the participant controls progress.
Upon completion of the two‐part series, participants receive a certificate. A third and final segment of the course will be presented at PMI Spring and Fall Conferences and Webinars, encompassing networking, verbal assessment, and the latest in regulatory, legislative, and code developments.
The new course has a direct link on the home page of the PMI Website, as well as the IAPMOLearn site, by going to “PMI Codes & Standards course.” The online portion of the course is $195 for IAPMO and PMI members, and $295 for non‐members.
