Chicago — McClure Engineering, a full-service engineering firm in St. Louis, recently became the latest employer to be recognized on the American Society of Plumbing Engineers (ASPE) Honor Roll of Employers. Keith Cooper, PE, president of McClure Engineering, attended the September 2012 meeting of ASPE’s St. Louis Chapter to accept the award.

The ASPE Honor Roll of Employers is a unique program recognizing organizations that provide substantive support for their employees’ participation and involvement in ASPE programs. The only way a company can be recognized on the Honor Roll is for one of the company’s employees to nominate it. “It is very satisfying to be recognized because one of our employees thought enough of our commitment to nominate McClure Engineering for such an honor,” Cooper says.

McClure Engineering was nominated for the company’s commitment to helping its employees become ASPE members and attend networking events, including paying dues, allowing time off to attend educational events, supporting local chapter events through sponsorships, and reimbursing travel expenses to ASPE events. “McClure Engineering understands the value of its employees being involved in an organization like ASPE,” says Paul Hellickson, a mechanical designer at McClure Engineering and the St. Louis Chapter's vice president, technical. “They realize there is training involved that benefits the employees, which in turn benefits the company. They also understand that our involvement affects the plumbing industry as a whole because decisions that get made at the local level ultimately get passed on to code authorities.”
