Greenlee®, part of Emerson’s professional tools portfolio, hosted its second “We Love STEM Day” on July 15th for 13 students in grades three through eight. The event was designed to support local schools and engage students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). It also helped Greenlee demonstrate the role these vital subjects play in manufacturing.

“Our second annual ‘We Love STEM Day’ was a success in encouraging a love of learning STEM subjects in the next generation of creators, innovators and inventors,” said Jennifer Hoang, event chair of Greenlee’s “We Love STEM Day” for Emerson. “The excitement and energy students had for learning about STEM and the way it is used in the work we do was inspiring.”

Students participated in a variety of hands-on activities that strengthened their problem-solving skills, including Lego® maze coding, building towers out of pasta, egg drop competitions and hydraulic claw building.

Greenlee is a proud supporter of local programs and education-based initiatives throughout Winnebago County where Greenlee is based, including Northern Illinois University’s STEMfest and Academy Expo. Greenlee also participates in National Manufacturing Day, where local high school students are invited to tour the Greenlee headquarters and learn about manufacturing careers. Greenlee additionally partners with current and future trade professionals by regularly donating its products for educational purposes.

RIDGID®, a part of Emerson’s professional tools portfolio, announced their participation in the WWETT Show, Feb. 21 – 24, in Indianapolis. Their product team will be providing hands-on demos of their latest drain cleaning and inspection tools, including the new SeeSnake® microReel™ APX™ designed to optimize inspections.

Engineered with a lightweight, compact profile for easy portability, the microReel APX features bright LED lights and auto image flip, ensuring clear, upright images. Paired with TruSense® technology, this tool delivers the industry’s best in-pipe image and RIDGID invites tradespeople to stop by the RIDGID booth (#1141) to be one of the first to experience it. The product launch coincides with a milestone for the brand as they celebrate over 25 years in diagnostics.

“The RIDGID SeeSnake microReel APX continues to deliver on our promise to help plumbers find, see and pinpoint problem areas in-pipe. It is our latest camera reel to offer TruSense technology, so plumbers have the enhanced data capabilities they need to see and diagnose issues,” said Laura Wolverton, marketing director, underground technologies, RIDGID for Emerson. “WWETT will be a great opportunity for plumbers to test out this new tool’s durability and imaging and see the product firsthand.”

Additional RIDGID tools available for demo during WWETT include: FlexShaft® Drain Cleaning Machines, sectional machines, drum machines, jetters, SeeSnake camera systems, locators and pressing tools. New Step Bits are up to twice as fast with extended life

Emerson’s (NYSE: EMR) Greenlee is innovating the step bit for an advanced holemaking solution. The new Greenlee GSB Series Step Bits are manufactured in the USA and feature an improved split-point tip for even faster penetration and a patented split-step design to optimize chip load for a faster and smooth cutting experience while achieving more holes per charge.

“We’ve taken our step bit design to a whole new level, focusing on the best possible performance with cordless drills,” said Rob Bentley, senior product manager, Greenlee for Emerson. “Greenlee is proud to announce a patented design that provides the fastest, smoothest cut, the longest life and the most holes per charge.”

Progressive cutting edges on the bits provide balanced aggression to maximize torque efficiency and minimize stalling when using a cordless drill. An improved double flute design provides enhanced chip evacuation, while also increasing cutting speed and bit life. Laser markings on the bits allow for easy part and size identification. The GSB Series Step Bits for mild steel will be offered in two sets, available in 10 Imperial-sized step bits ranging from 1/8-inch to 1-3/8-inch, and three Metric-sized step bits ranging from 4mm to 32.5mm.
