Rinnai America Corporation, a leader in innovative, energy-efficient tankless water heaters, commends the U.S. Senate for passing the bipartisan Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution, SJ Res 4, which overturns a Department of Energy (DOE) rule that would have effectively banned non-condensing tankless water heaters. This decision not only protects American jobs but also preserves consumer choice and fosters continued energy efficiency innovation.

Frank Windsor, President of Rinnai America Corporation, stated, “Today’s vote is a significant victory for American jobs, consumers, and energy efficiency. We applaud the Senate for their leadership in safeguarding U.S. manufacturing and ensuring consumers continue to have access to affordable, energy-efficient products that reduce long-term costs. We remain committed to our investment in U.S. manufacturing and innovation.”

The DOE’s proposed rule under the former Biden administration threatened to eliminate hundreds of jobs at Rinnai’s $70 million manufacturing facility in Griffin, Georgia. With the Senate’s support for the CRA, these jobs-and the long-term growth of American manufacturing-are now secure.

Rinnai would like to express its sincere gratitude to all the lawmakers in both the House and Senate who voted in favor of the CRA.

“We would also like to thank President Donald Trump and U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright for their unwavering support in championing American jobs and manufacturing,” said Windsor. “Their leadership has been instrumental in protecting consumer choice and affordability.”

“Georgia Congressman Brian Jack played a pivotal role in shepherding the bill through both chambers of Congress and in securing Presidential support,” Windsor added. “His tireless advocacy has safeguarded jobs in his district, preserved consumer choice in appliances, and protected energy-efficient products in the marketplace.”

Texas Senator Ted Cruz led the efforts in the Senate to support this critical resolution, and Rinnai is deeply grateful for his leadership.

“Senator Cruz’s unwavering commitment to protecting American jobs, consumers and energy efficiency has been vital in this effort,” said Windsor.

Rinnai extends its appreciation to Georgia Senators Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock for their bipartisan support.

“Senators Ossoff and Warnock demonstrated true bipartisan leadership,” said Windsor. “Their dedication to safeguarding Georgia’s workforce and protecting businesses like Rinnai has made a meaningful difference. We are incredibly grateful for their continued advocacy for Georgia’s manufacturing sector.”

Rinnai’s non-condensing tankless water heaters are up to 50% more energy-efficient than traditional storage tank models, providing significant savings for consumers. The DOE’s rule would have pushed consumers toward less efficient storage tanks, increasing costs. Had the rule remained, consumers would have faced a $665 price hike per unit, plus up to $1,000 in installation costs, resulting in an additional $235 million in costs to families, particularly impacting low-income households and seniors.

Rinnai remains committed to providing innovative, energy-efficient solutions that benefit consumers, the environment, and the economy. We are thankful for the Senate’s leadership in safeguarding these important priorities.

Rinnai America Corporation, a leading North American manufacturer of innovative, energy-efficient tankless water heaters, has announced an organizational change to position itself for growth in the commercial business segment. The newly formed team will be led by James ‘Woody’ Woodruff who was recently promoted to Vice President of Commercial Business and is a member of the company’s Executive Leadership Team.

The announcement comes after significant product launches focused on the commercial segment including its most recent introduction of Rinnai Commercial Boilers, a full line of wall hung and floor standing commercial grade boilers ranging up to one million BTUs. The new organizational structure includes a dedicated commercial heating and water heating sales team, a team of engineers specializing in system designs, and an operations team focused on supporting the company’s national account business.

“I’m excited for the opportunity to take on this new leadership role at Rinnai as we continue to focus on developing and expanding our product and service offering in the commercial segment,” said Woodruff. “We have a great team in place and are ready to aggressively pursue new growth opportunities.”

“Woody has a solid track record of developing and executing strategies to grow in the commercial segment,” said Frank Windsor, President of Rinnai America. “Under his leadership we are well positioned to grow our commercial market share in the North American market.

Woodruff joined Rinnai in 2017 as Director of Commercial Sales and was later promoted to Senior Director of Commercial. Prior to joining Rinnai, Woodruff held sales leadership positions with other well-known organizations including Rheem and Kohler Company. He earned his undergraduate degrees from Western Carolina University and Florida State University and earned his MBA from Auburn University.

Rinnai America Corporation — a leading North American manufacturer of innovative, energy-efficient tankless water heaters, is urging lawmakers to take action to protect American manufacturing, jobs and consumer choice.

Vote YES on the CRA SJ Res 4

Rinnai’s appeal comes as the U.S. Senate considers the Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution SJ Res 4, critical to overturning a proposed rule by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) that would effectively ban non-condensing tankless water heaters.

The Impact of the DOE’s Proposed Rule

This regulation threatens hundreds of American manufacturing jobs at Rinnai’s state-of-the-art facility in Griffin, Georgia, a $70 million investment in U.S. manufacturing. Passing the CRA would protect these jobs and safeguard diverse and competitive employment opportunities in manufacturing.

Preserving Energy Efficiency & Consumer Choice

Rinnai’s non-condensing tankless water heaters are up to 50% more efficient than traditional storage tank models, ensuring consumers have access to energy-efficient options that reduce long-term costs and energy use. The DOE’s rule would limit consumer choice and market competition, favoring larger tank manufacturers at the expense of innovation and efficiency. If non-condensing models are banned, 80% of consumers would likely switch to less efficient storage tank models, undermining the DOE’s energy efficiency goals.

Lowering Costs for American Families

The DOE’s regulation threatens to increase costs for American families. Consumers will face an additional $665 per unit, plus up to $1,000 in installation costs. This translates to a $235 million annual cost increase passed directly onto consumers, disproportionately impacting low-income and senior households. Voting yes means protecting American families from unnecessary financial strain and ensuring affordable energy solutions.

The Importance of Supporting U.S. Manufacturing

Rinnai’s commitment to U.S. manufacturing stands in stark contrast to many competitors that choose to manufacture products abroad. This creates an uneven playing field with long-term economic and environmental consequences for the U.S. manufacturing sector. Rinnai’s investment in Georgia strengthens American manufacturing and ensures the U.S. remains competitive on the global stage.

Rinnai’s Call to Action

Rinnai calls on the U.S. Senate to urgently pass the Congressional Review Act resolution and overturn the DOE’s harmful regulation. Supporting the CRA will:

  • Protect U.S. jobs and manufacturing investment
  • Prevent unnecessary cost increases for American families
  • Ensure continued progress on energy efficiency
  • Preserve consumer choice and market competition
