WinWholesale Inc., one of the largest distributors in the nation, has a new name: Winsupply Inc. The announcement comes from Rick Schwartz, chairman, who said, “Winsupply connects the more than 570 Win local companies to a single, cohesive powerful brand that creates national presence and position, not only in wholesale distribution but in all of the industries we serve.”
Winsupply, with $2.5 billion in sales in 2014, is the majority owner of all its local companies in a shared ownership business model.
Schwartz said the name change is effective immediately. “The Winsupply name will help us drive better business results,” Schwartz said. “We can go to market with a stronger brand that enables contractors everywhere to better understand the strength Winsupply brings to our local companies through centralized services including business consulting, capital, product sourcing, training, accounting, IT, payroll and marketing. These services allow local operators to focus on their local markets, products and serving their customers.
“With our new name, their customers can continue to feel confident that the local companies will make decisions on the spot to give them the support and services they need, and deliver the expertise and products when and where they need them. What will change is an enhanced commitment to deliver superior solutions for their everyday needs and unique challenges.”
Winsupply represents a powerful national brand that becomes the “connective tissue” for all of the local Win companies in 45 states, referred to as the Win Family of Companies. Currently, most local companies operate under Win-branded names including Winsupply, Winnelson, Winair, Windustrial, Winlectric, Winfastener and Winpump, along with Noland Company.
“Winsupply more accurately describes our business today – suppliers of diverse residential and commercial construction and industrial supplies and equipment, and what customers are seeking from our local companies. Our customers enjoy an owner-to-owner relationship and the expertise, equipment and support they need to succeed in their increasingly diversified businesses.
“More and more of our customers are no longer focusing on just one industry, like plumbing,” Schwartz said. “They’re adding heating and air conditioning equipment, PVF or electrical supplies in order to grow and diversify. Similarly, many of our local companies are doing the same, diversifying to meet the needs of their customers and to grow. The Winsupply name does the best job of capturing that diversification.”
The adoption of Winsupply continues the process of ending the proliferation of the different local company names. Over the last two years and going forward, all new companies have and will take the Winsupply name, with the exception of Winwater companies which will retain their current name. It’s expected that many more will change their local brand to Winsupply. Each local company is an independent corporation and the decision lies with each company’s board of directors.

In a world of increasing water shortages – and increasingly strict usage regulations — conserving water has never been more important. One example is in California where the drought is changing behaviors, changing priorities and causing the government (both State and local) and many water related companies to find creative new ways to solve the water shortage. Cars and lawns are going brown, showers are being shortened, and overall the Golden State is struggling to find solutions to the unprecedented drought. One such solution is the promotion of cash rebates and other financial incentives from the State and local water agencies to replace older inefficient plumbing fixtures with highly-efficient systems. Manufacturers are also reacting to this situation by developing new products and technologies to address the shortage.
Sloan is a leading manufacturer of commercial plumbing products and has been dedicated to saving water from the beginning of the water conservation movement. Sloan offers wide variety of water saving products such as high efficiency flushing as well as waterfree urinals. As the drought intensified Sloan introduced a series of a new kind of urinal called a Hybrid that delivers unmatched performance while saving thousands of gallons of water every year. The Sloan Hybrid Urinals combine a world-class, multi-patented urinal cartridge with revolutionary Jetrinse™ Solution Technology that keep urinals and drain lines clean, hygienic, odor-free and clog-free.
“The Hybrid Urinals reflect our dedication to help reduce the water footprint,” says Mark Lawinger, Product Line Manager – Fixtures for Sloan. “Sloan combines the best of both worlds: water-free operation and periodic water injection that helps prevent the formation of calcite and easily removes any small amounts of struvite forming in the drain line.” This innovative product removes any compromise usually associated with a reduction in water usage which will accelerate their adoption of many businesses which will in turn help save millions of gallons of water more quickly.
These urinals do not require water to eliminate urine — the Jetrinse Solution Technology automatically purges the housing and pipes, rinsing them thoroughly to prevent the buildup of sediment every 72 hours. The result is clean, odor-free operation, with virtually no maintenance aside from typical wipe downs and cartridge changes.
As a new solution that preserves the efficiency and enhances the functionality of waterfree design, the Sloan Hybrid Urinal is an alternative that can help manage water restrictions due to drought conditions throughout the country, such as California. Rebates are now available for commercial customers to replace their older inefficient water wasting urinals with the complete line of Sloan waterfree urinals, including the new hybrid.

Grundfos will showcase the submersible wastewater pumps at the 2015 WEFTEC Annual Technical Exhibition, booth 1026, held September 26-30 in Chicago.
The manufacturing center located in Aurora, Illinois, is a 105,000-square-foot facility devoted exclusively to the production, servicing and distribution of pumps and other equipment for the municipal wastewater treatment market throughout North America.
“By centralizing our wastewater engineering, production, assembly and servicing resources at the Aurora Water Utility Center, we’ve been able to provide municipal customers with faster lead times and accelerated new-product development,” explains Thomas Morrrison, Vice President of Sales for the Grundfos Municipal Water & Wastewater business unit. “As a North American supplier, we engineer, manufacture, sell and service products that are unique to this market, including those that happen to be produced overseas at the present time.”
Since 2008, Grundfos has invested more than $50 million in municipal water-related activities in the United States, including acquisitions, increased production and infrastructure, information systems and product launches.
The global market leader hopes to differentiate itself in the $2 billion North American municipal water arena by building on the strength of its growing portfolio of highly engineered, energy-efficient pump systems.
SUBMERSIBLE WASTEWATER PUMPS
The Grundfos line of SL submersible wastewater pumps are designed to handle raw, unscreened sewage, effluent, large volumes of surface water and process water in municipal, utility and industrial applications. The solids-handing pump series, in motor ranges from 1.5 to 15 horsepower (HP), is available with two types of impellers:
- SLV/SuperVortex Impeller: This pump type provides the free passage of solids up to four inches in diameter, making it ideal for liquids with a content of solids, fibers or gassy sludge.
- SL1/S Tube Impeller: This pump type also accommodates solids up to four inches, but is designed particularly for large flows of raw sewage.
The SLV and SL1 pumps are designed for permanent submerged installation in demanding applications, such as municipal wastewater, network pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants, public buildings, housing projects and other commercial applications.
The series is designed with IE3 premium efficiency motor components, quick removable pump housing clamps, cartridges seals, quick removable plug in cord, and smooth exterior components for high-efficiency performance along with an easy-to-service pump.
