The Chicago Faucets 3510 Series water-conserving metering faucets were selected by BUILDINGS Magazine as a 2014 Money-Saving Product. As part of an elite group of 97 architectural products being showcased in the June 2014 issue of BUILDINGS, the 3510 Series takes its place in the Water Savings category.

The Chicago Faucets 3510 Series with a 0.5 GPM (1.9 L/min) non-aerating outlet saves water in public and semi-public restrooms. The manual mechanism features separate levers for precise water flow and temperature control. This dual-function flow design, where the top lever controls water volume and the side lever controls water temperature, allows the user to find the ideal temperature and leave the faucet set to that temperature across multiple usages. The temperature can be adjusted when needed and quickly returned to the preferred setting. Models are also available with concealed temperature control and a vandal-resistant cap for consistent water temperature and added comfort and safety.

A solid ECAST brass, chrome-plated body provides unmatched durability while meeting requirements for the reduction of lead in plumbing fixtures. The faucet is ready to install right out of the box, with pre-installed, flexible, stainless steel hoses that connect to standard water supplies and a built-in check valve.

In addition, 3510 Series faucets feature a time-tested ceramic cartridge that provides a positive on and off stop. These faucets are fully ADA compliant.

Lochinvar, LLC announces the launch of its new FTXL™ Fire Tube Boiler for light commercial applications. With five models ranging from 399,999 to 850,000 Btu/hr, the FTXL Boiler represents a new generation of fire-tube technology, delivering up to 10:1 turndown and up to 98 percent Thermal Efficiency – higher than any other boiler in its class. Enabled for CON-X-US™ remote connect capability, the FTXL Boiler offers complete control from across town or across the country.

The Smartest SMART SYSTEM

The FTXL Boiler is equipped with Lochinvar’s most advanced, all-in-one SMART SYSTEM™ control technology. With a redesigned multi-color LCD interface and a wealth of new control features, the state-of-the-art operating system offers the option of direct integration into a Building Automation System through communication protocols such as Modbus or BACnet.

The new CON-X-US remote connectivity option redefines monitoring by simplifying data acquisition and providing remote diagnostics. Status alerts can be sent to a smart device, and the user can monitor and re-program control parameters from almost anywhere.

Further expanding upon the SMART SYSTEM functionality, the new Loch-N-Load™programming feature allows the user to load proven parameters onto a USB drive and plug the drive into a port on the front panel of the boiler to upload them to the operating system. This shortcut can reduce installation and programming time by up to 30 minutes per boiler.

With SMART SYSTEM’s built-in cascading sequencer, up to eight FTXL units can operate efficiently with total inputs of up to 6.8 million Btu/hr. To protect the system from downtime, cascade redundancy allows for the second boiler to take the lead if the first boiler in the sequence becomes non-operational.

Exceptional Ease of Installation + Simplified Service

The FTXL Boiler is designed for maximum space efficiency and flexible placement in the mechanical room. Each model in the line features zero clearance on both sides and the same installed footprint of 6.2 square feet, which is 20-30 percent smaller than competitive boilers. The boiler allows for direct-venting up to 100 feet, using inexpensive PVC, as well as CPVC, polypropylene or stainless steel pipe. Multiple FTXL units can also be common-vented, which reduces installation time and materials cost.

In addition, the water, gas and venting connections are located on the back of the boiler for easy access. Adding to the convenience, the boiler’s hinged top puts all other components and electrical connections in quick reach for simplified service.

“With the introduction of the FTXL Boiler, we continue to redefine the fire tube boiler category,” said Jeff Vallett II, boiler product manager for Lochinvar. “We designed the new FTXL line to deliver best-in class AHRI thermal efficiency and footprints, more sophisticated SMART SYSTEM functionality than ever before, plus the convenience of remote connectivity to simplify and streamline operations for our customers.”

TOTO, the largest plumbing manufacturer in the world with $5.01 billion dollars in annual sales, announced today that it has installed its high-performance, water-saving plumbing products in the Corinthians Arena in São Paulo, Brazil, the home of the Corinthians Paulista soccer team. With so many visitors from all over the world using its products in the Arena, TOTO is looking forward to increased brand recognition as it continues to help contribute to Brazil’s growth and development.

“As with all major sports venue projects, the competition for the Corinthians Stadium was strong, and TOTO was evaluated against the strongest brands in the region,” said David Krakoff, President of TOTO Brazil. “Therefore, as a relatively new brand in Brazil, we were particularly proud that TOTO was chosen for this stadium, which is certainly among the finest in the world.”

The Design-Build Team for the Corinthians Arena (a/k/a Arena de São Paulo) selected TOTO’s high-performance plumbing products for their superior water-saving technology and energy-saving capability. These high- design fixtures and cover plates enhance the restrooms’ beauty with their clean, simple lines.

In the Arena’s high-traffic restrooms, engineers installed TOTO’s durable 1.9 liters per flush urinals (LPF) and 4.8 LPF wall-mounted toilets. They also installed TOTO’s water-saving EcoPower sensor flush valves and faucets, which use flowing water to power their electronics, creating a sustainable loop. There is no need for hard wiring. With as few as 10 uses a day, their backup battery will last up to 19 years, which reduces toxic battery waste. In addition, in the team locker rooms, TOTO installed it water-saving showers systems.

“The level of thought and creativity that went into the design and development of this stadium was impressive,” said Krakoff. “It was an honor to work with Mr. Anibal Coutinho, the stadium’s architect, and to participate in his highly evolved design process. It was also amazing and inspiring to see the level of dedication that the Corinthians organization had to building a facility that would offer a first class experience to every person in every seat, regardless of the seat price or location.”
