“When facing the day to day challenges of working on a construction site we refuse to believe that being rugged means you have to make a compromise. Cat smartphones bring together powerful performance with industry leading tough credentials,” said Peter Stephens, CEO of Bullitt Group, the global licensee of phones and accessories for Caterpillar Inc. “By offering an industry-dedicated app store, including on-site reporting apps like NoteVault, we ensure that our customers are fully equipped when on site with the tools needed to get the job done.”

CCS Insight forecast that in 2016, 18.4 million rugged smartphones will be shipped worldwide. These devices are similar in design and user experience to the consumer-grade smartphone, but offer enterprise-grade levels of ruggedness and additional features for those working in demanding environments, e.g. improved daylight readability and the ability to use the device whilst wearing gloves.

Ken May, Chief Commercial Officer for NoteVault explains, “The NoteVault platform is used by many of the world’s top construction and engineering firms. Much of their workforce operate outdoors where water and dirt impede their ability to use their mobile device and NoteVault apps. Having a rugged Cat smartphone running NoteVault will enable them to keep delivering daily reports. We’re excited to team up with Cat phones to offer our customers a smartphone designed for the environment where they work.”

The SOLOLIFT2 line of macerating pumps from Grundfos features a powerful motor and smart design that maximizes performance while reducing necessary maintenance.

Five different models include a 1/3 to 3/4 Hp motor, innovative engineering and new cutter design, developed from heavy industrial systems.

The innovative and durable grinder collects and pumps wastewater and/or grey water through a narrow transfer pipe to a conventional sewer line up to a combination of 20 feet vertically or 328 feet horizontally. The range of domestic applications includes toilets (conventional and wall-hung), sinks, showers, washing machines and dishwashers.

The macerator’s sloping, self-clean design and modular construction permits fast and simple maintenance. A durable steel cutter handles all day-to-day objects while a temperature-resistant (up to 194°F) interior ensures superior performance in demanding domestic applications.

Vibration & Seismic Technologies Introduces the Faster, Easier
Quick Clip™ for Stiffening Hanger Rods in Seismic Zones

Vibration & Seismic Technologies (VST), a leading manufacturer of seismic-related construction products, introduces the new patent pending Quick Clip™ hanger rod stiffening device, which significantly reduces time and effort for mechanical, electrical and plumbing contractors. Used with strut to vertically stiffen hanger rod, the Quick Clip™ installs in seconds with no tools required.

“Stiffening of hanger rods is required by Code in the vast majority of construction projects located in seismic zones, as well as most projects throughout the U.S. that are federally owned, regulated or funded,” says Dan Duggan, Sr., Vice President of Product Development at VST. “The Quick Clip™ installs faster and easier than any other rod stiffener in use today, resulting in drastically reduced total installed costs.”

The single-component, stainless steel Quick Clip™ snaps into the strut and secures it to the rod with no bolts or tools needed. It can be installed in less than 5 seconds. The Quick Clip™ is currently available in two sizes, for use with 3/8” and 1/2” hanger rod. Additional sizes will be available soon. For more information and to see a video demonstration, visit vstseismic.com.

About Vibration & Seismic Technologies (VST):
VST offers a wide range of products and services to the construction industry for projects with seismic requirements. Products include the popular color-coded Seismic Wire Rope/Cable™ Bracing system for non-structural building components, as well as rod stiffeners using strut or pipe, and a wide range of vibration isolators. The company also provides seismic calculations and complete seismic engineering services. Learn more at vstseismic.com.

ViegaPEX™ tubing line expanded to include purple PEX for reclaimed water applications.

Viega LLC diversified its ViegaPEX tubing line, introducing ViegaPEX for reclaimed water.

ViegaPEX tubing for reclaimed water has the highest rating for chlorine and is available in ½”, ¾” and 1″ sizes. With the same 25-year warranty as ViegaPEX tubing, new ViegaPEX for reclaimed water comes to the market with the trust that professionals have already established with Viega. All Viega tubing is quality controlled, with the resin being manufactured by Viega.

“This product addition meets industry demands and diversifies Viega’s portfolio,” said Jeff Courtney, product director, plastics systems at Viega. “There is a growing demand for smart plumbing options and Viega has always been on the forefront of innovation, so adding ViegaPEX tubing for reclaimed water is a natural evolution for us.”

ViegaPEX tubing for reclaimed water can aid a home in receiving LEED® or National Green Building Standard™ points. Installation of the new tubing alongside other Viega PureFlow® solutions is seamless with system-matched tools and jaws.

The process of water reclamation varies, however, often after collection water is run through an in-home filtration system, and then is then reused in other areas of the home such as laundry, toilets and irrigation systems. Purple is the standard color of tubing for these reclaimed water lines. According to 2012 EPA Guidelines for Water Reuse, the use of recycled water in lieu of imported water for replenishing the groundwater has saved tens of millions of dollars a year in water purchases.
