Viega LLC announced its new series of ultra-low volume flushing technology products including two new award-winning flush plate styles.

“We are excited to add these new carriers and flush plates to the flushing technology product line,” said Tim Schmidt, product manager, flushing technology at Viega. “These carriers offer an industry-leading solution for water efficiency when paired with compatible bowls.”

The Viega 1.2 / 0.7 gpf in-wall Eco plus WC Carriers are available for use with Viega Visign flush plates, with either manual or touchless trigger. The reduced flush carriers are designed for greater water conservation and come in 2-by-4 and 2-by-6 foot sizes. The Viega 1.2 / 0.7 gpf Eco plus WC Carriers feature steel powder-coated frame construction and can be mounted in wood or metal studs, directly onto the wall or with mounting rails.

The Visign for More 105 and Visign for More 105 Sensitive flush plates are made from premium materials, such as chrome-plated metal and glass, and are designed to meet the highest demands in both appearance and operating comfort.

The Visign for More 105 features smooth, dual-volume flush technology by using a Bowden cable unit.

The Visign for More 105 Sensitive flush plates feature hygienic, fingerprint-free surfaces that are smooth and easy to clean. To trigger full or reduced flushing, users simply wave a hand across the flush plate. The touch-free activation means the flush plates feature no raised buttons, making them unobtrusive with an on-wall construction height of only 1/4 inches. Available in hardwire or battery options.

The new Visign for Style Sensitive flush plate has a luminescent design on the front for flush activation even in the dark. This new product brings wave activation to a new price point.

Viega Visign also features hardware and connection accessories for WC drain connection and adjustments, including a height adjustment connection set, offset tolerance adjustment, drain in white, inlet in white and a 45-degree waste elbow.

“From the materials to the design, Viega’s flushing technology products can fulfill the customer’s highest aesthetic demands,” said Eric Peterson, product and sales development manager, Viega. “Whether it’s at home or in an office, Viega flushing technology combines reliability and comfort with fresh designs sure to make any bathroom stand out.”

To help ensure a reliable water supply, Emerson has introduced its EasyHeat® In-Pipe Self-regulating Heating System that provides economical, reliable in-pipe freeze protection for PE and metallic supply lines. With user-friendly plug-in installation and energy-saving thermostat control, the system is ideal for preventing ice from forming inside 3/4-inch to 6-inch diameter water lines in temperatures down to -40°F (-40° C).

The system is also extremely economical, costing a fraction of the price of an alternative heating system or letting water trickle all winter long. In addition, the ability to use with an insulated pipe means less energy is required for operation.

Safety is a hallmark for Emerson. Which is why the new in-pipe heating system is CSA Certified for potable and process water. It also features a Ground-Fault Circuit Interrupter with test and reset buttons to ensure electrical safety. And because it is self-regulating, it automatically adjusts heat according to surrounding temperatures and minimizes hot spots, allowing the cable to be overlapped.

When the temperature falls, the In-Pipe Self-regulating Heating System is the best choice for protecting supply pipes from freezing and maintaining running water all winter long. It also can be used to protect drain lines, vent pipes and sump pump lines.

Included in the system is a GFCI, 6′ power cord, shrink tubes and crimp connectors, 6′ pull cord and 3/4-inch NPT thread fitting. The system is designed for use with EasyHeat SR and TSR heating cables and the EasyHeat SL-3 thermostat controller. Maximum cable length is 220′ using SR cable, and 275′ with TSR cable. EasyHeat’s energy-saving SL-3 thermostat features a 10′ sensor that detects pipe temperature and energizes the cable as required.

BIG CLEANING POWER IN A TOUGH NEW PACKAGE.

The Typhoon™ trailer jet from General Pipe Cleaners blows away blockages in
big lines and long runs. The Typhoon delivers 12 gallons a minute at 2500 psi to
blast lines clean of grease, sediment and debris.

A 200-gallon holding tank carries enough water to handle remote applications
where access to water is limited. A reliable 690 cc Honda engine powers the
durable pump with Vibra-pulse ® to help slide the nozzle around tight bends and
propel the hose down long lines.

The Typhoon’s high performance nozzles incorporate patented fluid mechanics
that significantly increase thrust, puling power, and cleaning power without
needing to increase water flow or pressure.

Two hose reels – a jet hose reel with 400 ft. x 1/2" capacity featuring variable
speed electric rewind, and a water supply hose reel carrying 150 ft. x 3/4" hose –
are mounted at the rear of the unit. Engine controls, including an hour meter, are
mounted within easy reach in the lockable tool box with slide action doors just
below the reels.

The Typhoon boasts electric brakes, safety strobe light, safety cones with holder,
rear fold-down stabilizer jacks, retractable hose guide arm, and anti-freeze
system as standard equipment.

The tiny-house craze is huge. Now Viega has a hand in it, too – contributing to a tiny-house competition in California. The team from University of California, Berkeley utilized different Viega products and finished second in the competition, pulling in some other awards as well.

The team made good use of the Viega PureFlow system, installing PureFlow PEX in red and blue for hot and cold potable water, and also purple for reclaimed water, as well as polymer PureFlow Press Fittings. The PEX in ½” and ¾” was utilized on the project, and the team was also able to use a ManaBloc in the mechanical room.

Laney Siegner was one of the project managers and led the design of the water and wastewater systems.

“The goal was to make it a proof of concept of how little water you can use within a residence and still be comfortable,” Siegner said.

The PureFlow PEX products played a big role in the whole water system, with lots of tubing used not only for hot and cold water output, but to move the greywater through the recycling system.

The idea impressed the judges of the competition, too, since Berkeley’s team won the award for water conservation, as well as for overall sustainability.
