The new location’s distribution center will increase product availability and boast a state-of-the-art testing facility 

Niagara^®, the leader in high-performance, water-saving toilets, announced today it opened a new state-of-the-art global headquarters located at 300 Old Gerault Road in Flower Mound, Texas. The facility houses an expansive distribution center spanning over 117,000 square feet, geared toward serving Niagara’s U.S. customers in a more efficient and streamlined manner.

The new building also features a testing facility with advanced technology and tools that will measure the performance and features of toilets, showerheads, and other plumbing products. Innovation, design, and research have propelled Niagara’s growth and ability to win more than 20 industry and EPA WaterSense® awards in the last decade for re-engineering the toilet’s flush into a high-power, low-maintenance, virtually clog-free, water-efficient solution that has saved billions of gallons of the world’s water.

The new location includes a full product showroom that proudly displays a variety of Niagara’s award-winning products including Niagara’s Pro line and the newly-launched Phantom One Piece. The showroom is an opportunity for wholesalers, architects, builders and plumbing professionals to explore the different features and benefits of products and to also take a peek inside a Niagara tank by viewing a clear model that illustrates how Niagara’s patented Stealth Technology® works.

The Challenge

Aqua Savers, a company that specializes in retrofitting water-efficient products in multifamily properties, completed a water efficiency program for the Washington, DC community, Girard Street Apartments.

The apartments, built to offer an affordable housing option for residents ages 55+, were required to be ADA compliant to fit the needs of their tenants. Upon the completion of the preliminary water bill analysis, it was clear that there was an issue at the property that needed to be investigated. When Aqua Savers completed the onsite audit, it was learned that the existing toilets had been improperly installed and were using a high GPF, thus resulting in exorbitant water and sewer costs for a property of its age and size.

The Products

The existing toilets were replaced with an Ultra-High-Efficiency model from Niagara. The Original utilizes Niagara’s patented Stealth Technology^® and comes in an elongated shape that is best for comfort.

By using a vacuum-assisted flush that uses ambient air inside a simple vessel, The Original can flush up to 800g of miso in as little as 0.8 GPF. Niagara’s Original with Stealth Technology can meet the ADA requirements through various options of handle functionality, height, and accessibility, making it the perfect choice for this property.

The Results

By just replacing toilets, the property was able to realize a 77% reduction in consumption and a 73% decrease in water/sewer cost. These reductions resulted in a 375% monthly ROI for the owners, who were so satisfied with Niagara’s Original and Aqua Saver’s services, that they have retrofitted several other properties and are seeing similar results.

The Nano® Dual Flush Elongated Toilet is the latest water-saving product from Niagara® Conservation. Built with Niagara’s patented and highly innovative Stealth® Technology, the Nano is a high-power, low-maintenance, no waste toilet that guarantees a powerful, clean flush every time.

The Nano is WaterSense® certified and is one of the most water-efficient toilets available using 77 percent less water than most other toilets on the market. The dual flush technology allows people to select either .5 or .8 gallons-per-flush (GPF) with the same power as the industry standard 1.6 GPF. The EPA estimates that water conserving toilets, such as the Nano, can reduce water usage up to 60 percent every year, significantly lowering monthly water costs and saving more than 13,000 gallons of water annually.

In addition to saving water, the Nano’s flapperless Stealth Technology delivers a powerful flush, preventing clogging, leaking and eliminating the need to flush more than once. A Fluidmaster 400A fill valve is fully submerged, cancelling out the noise typically produced by a standard toilet.

The 708-unit military community saves more than one million gallons of water in one month.

INSTALLATION AT LA MESA VILLAGE COMMUNITY

In October 2014, Monterey Bay Military Housing upgraded La Mesa Village Community with all new Ultra-High-Efficiency-Technology (UHET™) Water- Saving Kits from Niagara Conservation with no upfront costs. Niagara’s UHET Kits provided La Mesa Village residents with drastically lowered utility bills and reduced maintenance issues.

THE PRODUCTS

La Mesa Village installed Niagara’s UHET Kits throughout the 708-unit property. Each UHET Kit consists of five high-efficiency products that drastically reduce water and energy usage. Each kit included Niagara’s EPA WaterSense® certified Original Stealth 0.8 GPF toilet, Earth Massage 1.5 GPM showerhead, and 1.0 GPM kitchen and bathroom aerators.

The Original Stealth boasts the lowest gallons per flush on the market; flushing at just 0.8 gallons each time thanks to Stealth Technology – a patented, re-engineered flush that works better and wastes nothing. The showerhead and aerators have Niagara’s Equiforce™ Technology, a pressure-compensating technology that guarantees a powerful, consistent flow rate regardless of available water pressure.

The 0.8 GPF toilets were installed to replace the older 1.6 GPF toilets previously found on the property. Monterey Peninsula Water Management District helped fund the retrofit by providing property managers rebates for every toilet installation.

RESULTS

The retrofit began in October 2014 and was completed in less than 30 days. According to Adrian Jimenez, Operations Manager for Monterey Bay Military Housing, La Mesa Village saved 1,113,500 gallons of water when compared to the previous year.

“The installation of Niagara’s high-efficiency plumbing fixtures have been nothing but well received by our residents in the La Mesa Village,” stated Jimenez. “Each retrofit was completed with the utmost professionalism and ease. And since the project’s completion last November, we have not only seen remarkable reductions in water usage within each unit of the community, but also we have received zero complaints from our residents.”
